GM is considering developing a car for India that would be priced and positioned below its Chevrolet Spark minicar model according to an Indian media report.
The Times of India cited remarks by the company’s Asia-Pacific president, Nick Reilly.
“I would say we are studying that… and (we) do think there is an opportunity for something below the current minicar offering Spark,” the newspaper quoted Nick Reilly as saying.
Spark currently costs about INR266,000 at dealerships, the report said.
GM could sell the new car in other regions such as Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa and China as well, the report added.
