General Motors has joined other automakers in raising the prices of its vehicles in India following the government’s withdrawal of excise duty concessions but also cited rising input costs.
GM India vice president P Balendran told PTI: “The price hike on Chevrolet vehicles built in India ranges from approximately INR15,000 (US$236) to INR61,000 depending upon the various models and variants with effect from January 2015.”

The Spark price has risen INR15,739-INR18,300 to INR360,000-INR418,000. The Beat will now cost between INR420,000 and INR682,000, reflecting a price hike of INR15,739 to INR18,300. Prices of Sail hatchbacks have been raised by INR20,458-INR36,387 to INR466,000 to INR718,000.
The Sail sedan is now INR549,000 to INR805,000 after a rise of INR22,365 to INR35,820. The Cruze has been hiked INR46,960-INR55,561 to INR1.43m to INR1.69m.
The Enjoy MPV has increased INR24,901 to INR35,319 and the range will now cost between INR610,000 and INR862,000. The Tavera price range is INR925,000 to INR1.13m after a hike of INR24,799 to INR60,982.
