Ford has delayed the Indian launch of its INR 650,000 Fusion Multi Activity Vehicle (MAV) to October.
At the price the Fusion is expected to be pitched against the Honda City sedan as there is no other rival in this segment. The semi-MPV design of the Fusion promises more interior space than larger cars like the Hyundai Accent sedan and Ford’s own Ikon sedan. At 172cm, the Fusion will be wider than most C-segment cars.
Ford is expected to launch the Fusion with 70% local content as it plans to notch up significant sales volume. Monthly sales are expected to average 1100-1400 units.
Ford India is expected to make 33,000 sales in 2004, including the new Fusion.
