Ford India has started exporting the EcoSport SUV to South Africa, after introducing it in the domestic market and Nepal. However, the company has not announced the number of units to be exported.
The small SUVs will ship to South Africa from Chennai, reported Overdrive. The Chennai Port Trust has already allotted space. The company is likely to introduce all variants available in India in South Africa.

The front-wheel drive EcoSport with 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol engine which offers a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed dual clutch PowerShift automatic, a one-litre three cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine with manual transmission and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine paired with a five-speed manual.
The automaker has revealed plans to roll out the model in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Europe and the Middle East by late 2013 or early 2014, and eventually take EcoSport production global. It is expected to be retailed in 62 nations by 2017.
Ford has identified Chongqing in China, Elabuga in Russia, Camacari in Brazil and Rayong in Thailand as possible assembly locations.
