The distribution agreement dates back to 2006 but the Italian company now wants to put greater focus on the Fiat brand. The joint venture included Fiat and Tata car manufacturing at Ranjangaon near Pune. Those manufacturing activities will continue as they are outside of a new agreement.
Fiat recently switched distribution and servicing of its vehicles in Australia and New Zealand from long-serving independent Ateco to Chrysler Australia.
