FUSO “FJ” and “FI” trucks have been presented at the Indonesia International Motor Show in a move underlining the importance of Daimler’s Indian production unit for developing truck sales in emerging markets around the world.
Indonesia is FUSO’s largest export market and FUSO trucks are delivered from an Indian production hub in Chennai. “We will pursue the potential of the Indonesian market by introducing our new models that are perfectly suited for Indonesian customers,” said Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Daimler Board of Management responsible for Daimler Trucks & Buses.

The new FUSO truck models are produced in Chennai by DICV and will be exported to Indonesia, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler.
The new FUSO trucks were developed for growth markets in Asia and Africa. They have already been introduced in Kenya, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, and Brunei. Indonesia is the eighth market on which these trucks are sold. After introduction of the models to selected Asian and African countries, there are plans for a further roll-out in markets like the Middle East and Latin America.
FUSO is the number one commercial vehicle brand in Indonesia in the overall truck and bus segment. Over the past five years, the company has sold over 280,000 units in Indonesia, including light-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks and light-duty bus chassis.
