Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) plans to enter the Indian bus segment.
Business Standard said, in the second quarter of 2015, the company expects to commence operations at a new INR4.25bn (US$68.7m) bus manufacturing plant.
In the first phase, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 1,500 units, which can be expanded to 4,000 units a year.
Daimler plans to offer buses in the nine tonne and above categories with front or rear engines.
Meanwhile, the company plans to unveil a heavy duty truck in 2015. It also aims to triple its market share in the 9-49 tonne truck segment to 20% from the current 7%.
