Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent company, marked its first production anniversary by rolling the 5,000th BharatBenz brand truck off the assembly line in Chennai.
The anniversary truck is a heavy-duty 2523C construction model and DICV launched series production with this model in June 2012.

“We have achieved a great deal”, said Marc Llistosella, managing director and CEO of DICV. “However, we continue to set our sights on more. We will consistently expand our dealer network and product portfolio and will be offering a total of 17 models under the BharatBenz brand by 2014.”
Medium-duty trucks from 9 to 12 tons and heavy duty models from 25 to 31 tons are already on sale, offering a choice of nine different models.
DICV began building Fuso trucks for export to Asia and Africa last May as the two subsidiaries – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) – working together under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia.
Albert Kirchmann, head of Daimler Trucks Asia and MFTBC President & CEO said: “We are working as a unified force in strengthening our presence in the growth markets in Asia and Africa and tapping into new sales potential. Our two main production hubs in Kawasaki, Japan, and Chennai, India, will play a key role in our growth strategy.”
