It is going to be a battle royale in India this year among the three German luxury car makers – BMW, Mercedes and recent entrant Audi.
“We have achieved growth of 81% in 2010, sold 3,003 units and the 2011 target is 50% growth, which is a conservative estimate,” an upbeat Audi India head Michael Perschke told just-auto at the launch of the A8.

The company made 480 retail sales in January, a record for a single month.
“The response to the A8 was so encouraging that we are sold out for the next quarter and had almost 150 units pre-ordered before the launch,” added Perschke.
“We are launching the A6 & A7 very soon,” he said.
Audi also plans to launch the A9 & A1 in the next couple of years.
Perschke said: “The way the luxury market is growing in India, it will reach anywhere between 50,000 and 60,000 units by 2015.”
Audi is expanding its dealer network to 20 by year’s end from the current 15.
“We are setting up dealerships in Tier 2 cities to extend our product reach in India,” the Audi chief said.
