Indian truck maker Ashok Leyland has said its planned light truck manufacturing plant with Nissan has been delayed by six months.

Dow Jones reported that there has been a delay in acquiring land, putting the project back six months to mid-2011.


Ashok Leyland plans to build the factory with Nissan in the southern state of Tamil Nadu to build light commercial vehicles and their engines as well as set up a technology development center.


The two automakers planned to build the facilities on 380 acres of land near the port city of Chennai. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles a year in the first phase.
