IAC has inaugurated its new plant in Manesar, India, with the milestone marked by a ceremony held with management, employees and key customers.
The new 5,574-sqm (60,000-sq ft) Manesar plant consolidates two older operations in near proximity into one manufacturing location.
The company invested more than US$2m in the modernisation of the equipment and facility, which will employ around 220 people. It will produce vehicle headliners, centre console systems, and instrument panel components, as well as provide expanded manufacturing and engineering support to domestic and global OEM customers in the New Delhi automotive region.
“IAC is committed to investing in India and creating a meaningful presence near its major automotive centres,” said IAC SVP Asia Operations, Gajanan Gandhe. “Our new facility in Manesar will help us better serve current customers’ needs and offer regional advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities for next-generation vehicle interiors.”
This is the second location opened by IAC in India in the past 13 months. In June 2017, a regional and global engineering centre was established in Pune to focus on application development engineering to support the vehicle interior needs of domestic and global OEM customer programmes.
With the Manesar opening, IAC has five locations throughout India, as well as 18 design, technical and commercial centres around the world.
