Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its all-new Nexo hydrogen fuel cell-powered SUV at this month’s 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, the first full revision of the model since it was launched in 2018.

South Korea’s leading automaker said the second-generation Nexo is larger than its predecessor and features improved fuel cell system and powertrain systems, including an upgraded motor, providing a driving range of more than 700 km after a “five-minute” tank refill. The new SUV has a higher power output and improved driving performance compared with the outgoing model.

The new Nexo, built on the company’s Intium concept vehicle, has a more spacious interior with advanced comfort features including first-row “relaxation seats” and increased luggage capacity. It features a 12.3-inch infotainment system supported by over-the-air updates, a head-up display and AI-powered voice recognition system. It comes with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies including lane-keeping assist and collision avoidance systems, while nine airbags help protect the passengers as well as the hydrogen tank.

The new Nexo has a total power output of 190 kW, compared with 135 kW of its predecessor, including an 80 kW battery instead of a 40 kW unit. The new fuel cell stack delivers 110 kW, an increase of 16% compared with the previous model, while advances in storage density have helped increase the capacity of the hydrogen tank.

The automaker said significant advancements have been made with the new fuel cell and power electronics systems, which have helped improve the new Nexo’s overall power output and performance.
