Hyundai Transys Inc, a South Korean auto parts manufacturer affiliated with Hyundai Motor Group, this week said it has signed a preliminary agreement with Germany's Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co in the area of automotive seating.

The two companies have agreed in principle to collaborate in the development of automotive seating for future vehicle models, focusing mainly on developing advanced lightweight seating materials and also seats that can be operated through smart technologies.

The hi-tech seats initially will be developed for electric vehicles and from 2024 also for autonomous vehicles.

Hyundai Transys was established at the beginning of 2019 following the merger of Hyundai Dymos and Hyundai Powertech. It employs almost 9,600 people and makes seats for numerous Hyundai and Genesis passenger vehicles, as well as automotive axles and transmission systems.

Family-owned Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH is a leading global manufacturer of automotive mechatronic systems for seats, doors and other body systems.
