Hyundai Motor said it had been forced to stop deliveries of diesel versions of its new Genesis GV80 luxury SUV due to excessive engine vibrations.
The company launched the three-litre diesel GV80 in South Korea in January 2020, priced from KRW89m (US$74,000), followed by 2.5- and 3.5-litre turbocharged petrol models early in March.

Total deliveries to date have exceeded 8,000 units.
The company sent a notice to customers who have ordered the diesel model deliveries would be delayed until the vibration issue is fixed.
The petrol models are not affected by the vibration problem and production of these models will continue as normal.
The engine affected is a six cylinder, in line diesel unit exclusive to the GV80.

By GlobalDataEngineers have so far determined the excessive vibrations are due to carbon build up when the engine operates at low revs for prolonged periods of time.
Hyundai said the problem does not directly affect safety and it is working on finding a solution.
"We will notify our customers once more detailed checkups become available."
