Hyundai Motor this week began taking preorders for its new Casper mini SUV ahead of its official launch in South Korea later this month.

The country’s largest vehicle manufacturer unveiled its new entry-level SUV model, described as a cross between a city car and a crossover, at the beginning of September.

It comes with a choice of one-litre multi-point petrol injection and direction injection engines.

The new vehicle measures 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width and 1,575 mm in height and is understood to be based on the Hyundai i10 platform.

It is priced between KRW13.8m and KRW18.7m (US$11,755-US$15,928) in its domestic market.

Hyundai said it began accepting orders only through its official online channel as it looks to increase contactless car purchases during the pandemic.
