South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled its artificial intelligence (AI) robotics strategy at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Central to this is the group’s focus on human-centric AI robotics, systems designed specifically to support people and work alongside them.

Hyundai Motor Group aims to establish itself as a leading, people-focused player in the emerging field of Physical AI by drawing on its integrated value chain and broad range of products.
Physical AI encompasses the deployment of intelligent technologies in the real world, using hardware to gather data and make independent decisions.
It includes applications in robotics, smart manufacturing facilities, autonomous vehicles, and other environments where AI operates in physical space.
As part of the announcement, the automotive group’s robotics unit Boston Dynamics revealed the product version of its new Atlas robot.
Hyundai Motor Group said the Atlas robot is scheduled to be deployed at its Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America facility by 2028 to carry out sequencing tasks.
The robot is intended to take on higher-risk work, reduce physical strain on workers and support the development of collaborative human-robot factory environments, while contributing to future robot commercialisation.
Hyundai Motor Group also outlined plans to work with Boston Dynamics across training, commercialisation and expansion of AI robotics.
Group affiliates, including Hyundai Motor, Kia, Hyundai Mobis and Hyundai Glovis, will collaborate to establish an end-to-end AI robotics value chain.
It will include data-driven production and validation systems such as the Robot Metaplant Application Centre and the software-defined factory platform.
The group said it is also pursuing strategic partnerships with global technology companies, including NVIDIA, to support AI robotics development, alongside initiatives to scale mass production and expand robotics-as-a-service offerings using its global manufacturing footprint.
Additional partnerships outlined include collaboration between Boston Dynamics and Google DeepMind to accelerate the development of next-generation humanoids and support their safe and efficient deployment through integrated robotics and AI technologies.
