Hyundai Mobis Company, the main automotive components supplier to South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group, announced it is expanding its R&D operations in India to meet growing demand from global automakers.
The company confirmed that it is establishing a new R&D facility in the city of Bengaluru, described as India’s IT hub, to develop systems for global customers – including infotainment systems. The new R&D centre will operate as a specialized software development unit, working in close collaboration with the company’s main R&D centre in Hyderabad, which was established earlier this year.

Hyundai Mobis confirmed it plans to develop a specialized hub for infotainment software in Bengaluru. The company pointed out that the Indian automotive market is increasingly shifting from compact cars to mid-to-large-sized models, adding that “as the adoption of high-value-added electronic components, such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), increases, the demand for the necessary software talent has also grown significantly.”
Hyundai Mobis said it expects the new Bengaluru facility will enable it to adopt a more flexible local R&D strategy, working in close collaboration with the existing integrated R&D hub in Hyderabad, which will continue to operate as the company’s Indian R&D headquarters.
“The Bengaluru branch will handle areas closely linked to hardware, such as frameworks that form the foundation for software functionality implementation. By expanding the scope of software development across these two hubs, the company has established a platform development foundation capable of meeting the requirements of local and global customers.”
Hyundai Mobis said it is strengthening its global competitiveness by operating key facilities in India, including factories and research centers. The company produces modules and core components at its two production locations, in Chennai and Anantapur, while its Gurugram facility supplies aftermarket parts. In Delhi, the company operates a quality control centre, while in Chennai it has established a procurement centre.
The company has set an aggressive target of increasing the value of orders from its Indian customers sixfold by 2028, compared with 2025 levels.
