Hyundai Motor has launched a new, upgraded version of its Universe hydrogen-electric fuel cell bus, providing an enhanced performance, including a driving range of 960 km on a single charge. The new bus features an integrated dual motor and transmission system, providing a smoother, improved driving performance.
The new Universe fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) bus has a maximum power output of 350 kW and a maximum torque of 1800 Nm. The fuel cell system generates up to 180 kW, while the lithium-ion battery has a power output of 48.2 kWh.
The upgraded Universe also features a high-voltage battery fire delay system, which is designed to delay the spread of flames from the battery enclosure by at least five minutes. The bus is also fitted with a device that shuts off the hydrogen supply and the high-voltage battery system in the case of a collision.
Hyundai also unveiled an upgraded internal combustion engine (ICE) 2026 Universe model, with enhanced specifications, including new luxury trim and premium features, with the aim of increasing the product’s competitiveness.
