Hyundai plans to release plug-in versions of its future Genesis models, the Korean company has told the media in its home market.
According to a report carried by The Korea Herald, an unnamed high-level official of Hyundai Motor said the company is planning to launch “high-performance, long-range electric vehicles as early as 2020”.

The Korean daily says that HMC is reported to be focusing on extending the range of future Hyundai brand EVs before taking on Tesla and other competitors.
There will be six Genesis vehicles in the range by 2020, Hyundai stated in November 2015. They are expected to be as follows:
- G70 (Infiniti Q50 rival)
- G80 (renamed Genesis sedan, Lexus GS rival)
- G90 (replacement for the Hyundai Equus, Lexus LS rival)
- Coupe (replacement for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe/Genesis Coupe)
- Crossover number one (Lexus NX rival)
- Crossover number two (Infiniti QX70 rival)
