Takata Safety Systems Hungary says it will shortly start production of airbag technology at a new facility in Miskolc.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Takata chairman and CEO, Shigehisa Takada, led the ceremony for the new 50,000 square metre facility, which will produce complete airbag modules and airbag components for car manufacturers across Europe.
“The airbag systems and other safety equipment you will make here will play a crucial role in maintaining our quality as we meet the growing, global demand for lifesaving automotive safety systems,” said Takada.
“This facility will greatly strengthen our supply structure in Europe and help us meet the needs of our customers.
“Our employees have produced hundreds of millions of airbags and other safety systems that have saved the lives of tens of thousands of people and prevented hundreds of thousands of serious injuries in traffic accidents.
“We never lose sight of our dream of a world in which there are zero fatalities from traffic accidents.”
