Nemak has announced a new cylinder head supply deal with the Renault-Nissan Alliance worth more than EUR200m (US$272.7m) over the contract life.
The heads are for I4 diesel engines installed in various Renault, Dacia and Nissan-brand vehicles.
Nemak said it dedicated an R&D team to develop an alloy and the production process that specifically meets the requirements of this cylinder head.
“This newly developed alloy will support the significant efforts of our customer to further improve engine efficiencies and reduce emissions.” said Nemak CEO Armando Tamez.
Production will start in 2017 at Nemak’s factory in Györ, Hungary using the rotacast dynamic casting process. This new process is claimed to deliver economic and technical advantages to supplier and automaker.
Nemak already supplies engine blocks and cylinder heads to Renault-Nissan plants in Europe, North and South America.
