Hungarian new car sales fell for the first time in the first quarter – down 3.4% to 45,678 units, the Hungarian Association of Car Importers said.
A HACI executive told Reuters the drop was due to the introduction of a new tax on imported cars, due to Hungary’s accession to the European Union on May 1, which caused initial administrative difficulties to companies.
