Audi has started production of its new A3 Cabriolet at its plant in Gyor which will push output at the factory to 125,000 vehicles a year.

The Cabriolet will share assembly with the A3 sedan at Gyor as well as the TT Coupe and roadster. VW’s luxury brand has spent about EUR900m (US$1.2bn) on buildings and equipment at the site.

The A3 Cabriolet will be available in Europe next spring with advance sales starting in Germany and some other European markets this week.

Between 2007 and 2013, Audi Hungaria built around 63,000 units of the previous cabriolet in Gyor.
