General Motors is making headway in finalising a deal to sell Hummer to Chinese machinery maker Tengzhong, a spokesman said last night.

“Negotiations continue to progress,” Nick Richards told AFP, adding that the final deal would be announced “as soon as appropriate.”

Last June GM and Tengzhong signed a tentative agreement for the Chinese firm to buy the Hummer brand.

Since then, Richards said, “the parties have been in frequent discussions working closely to finalise a definitive agreement.”
