Nissan has launched its NV200 taxi in Hong Kong with dual fuel capability.

It offers barrier-free access to riders in Hong Kong thanks to a  universal design layout. Among the riders who may benefit are wheelchair users, who can easily roll on and off the taxi through the back door via a ramp. More than 750 units of the NV200 Taxi with universal design are already operating in Japan.

The Taxi is based on the popular NV200 multi-purpose commercial vehicle. It was launched recently in the US as the next-generation yellow cab in New York City.

The Hong Kong version taxi is powered by both petrol and LPG, common in Europe but a local first. The new system reduces approximately 80% of NOx from emissions compared to conventional mono-fuel LPG models.

Fifty units of the NV200 Taxi will be delivered to Hong Kong and will start operating in early 2015.

The Nissan NV200 van is also sold in Japan, Europe, China and the US.
