Nissan Motor on Tuesday opened its new global headquarters for its Infiniti luxury car brand in Hong Kong.
The automaker hopes the Infiniti global headquarters, Nissan Global, will serve as a gateway to mainland China and other Asian markets, Jijii News reported. The Infiniti headquarters was moved from Yokohama in Japan where the company is based.

Nissan president Carlos Ghosn and executive vice president Andy Palmer, who is in charge of Infiniti operations, attended the opening ceremony of the Infiniti base.
“With the opening of this office, Infiniti becomes the first and only automaker (brand) to establish global headquarters in Hong Kong,” Ghosn told the audience.
He said the Infiniti headquarters had a talented, diverse workforce and was conveniently located with easy access to more than 1bn consumers in mainland China, stressing the importance of shifting the Infiniti base to Hong Kong.
Nissan plans to increase the number of employees at the unit from the current 30 to 100 within a year. It will also serve as a global base for Nissan’s public relations and marketing operations, taking advantage of the city as a worldwide media centre.
