Infiniti said it sold a record 103,500 new vehicles worldwide in the first half of 2015, up 13% year on year.

This is the first time Nissan’s luxury brand shifted 100,000 vehicles in a first half.

The brand claimed also to have set H1 records in China, Asia & Oceania, and EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) regions as well as in key individual markets including Canada, Mexico, South Africa and Australia.

Infiniti’s June sales were also a record, up 17% to 16,800.

“Infiniti has been building a lot of momentum setting numerous global sales records in the past two years,” said president Roland Krueger.

The automaker said new models like the Q50 sedan had spurred sales. The long promised production Q30, Infiniti’s first entry into the compact segment, finally makes its public debut at the Frankfurt show next September around the time assembly starts at Nissan’s English plant in Sunderland.

European sales start “towards the end of the year with other markets following shortly after”, the automaker said.

The brand last year grew its global dealer network by about 9% to 490.

“Infiniti has established a strong foundation in the first half of 2015,” said Krueger. “We enter the second half with great confidence.”
