Honda Motor unveiled its sixth-generation Prelude coupe model after a 24-year absence from the market. The Japanese automaker said the new 2-door, 4-seater Prelude has been “inspired by the fun-to-drive performance, legacy of innovation, and dynamic styling of earlier generations” of the car.

The new Prelude is based on the Civic Type R chassis and is powered by the two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain found in the Civic hybrid models, featuring a 141 hp 2.0L Atkinson 4-cylinder in-line engine, generating a total power output of 200 hp. The model also marks the debut of Honda’s S+ Shift, an innovative new drive mode that “simulates a performance transmission experience for enhanced driver engagement.”
