Hitachi Automotive Systems says its ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is being used on the new Serena, launched by Nissan earlier this year.
The Serena had already been equipped with a number of safety technologies and the new model adds to that with ProPilot, Nissan’s driver support technology, which can automatically control the accelerator, brakes and steering when driving in heavy traffic and during long periods of cruising, by using Hitachi’s ECU.

Data from just-auto’s QUBE service notes Hitachi Automotive Systems is looking for high growth in LiIon batteries, inverters, electric power steering, electrically driven brakes and semi-active suspension systems.
The company also wants to integrate all its various systems and solutions, including Clarion infotainment, to provide a coherent ADAS package.
The automotive systems business reports in five areas:
. Drive control systems: safety products such as brake components and systems; stereo cameras; semi-active suspension; electric power steering. Together drive control systems took 20% of automotive revenue in FY15.
. Car information systems (Clarion) – 20% of FY15 revenues.
. Powertrain & electronic control systems: hybrid vehicle systems including motors, inverters and lithium ion batteries. Accounted for 30% of automotive revenues in FY15.
. Engine components systems: variable valve systems and direct injection systems. Accounted for 20% of automotive revenues in FY15.
. Other: industrial use and aftermarket business including brake pads and suspension parts. Accounted for 10% of automotive revenues in FY15.
