The enhancements are expected to raise capacity by around 50%, with the installation of four surface‑mount technology (SMT) lines and the introduction of capabilities for module assembly and speaker production.

By 2027, the facility is projected to produce annually four million car audio components, 1.4 million infotainment units and 800,000 telematics control units (TCUs).

The facility is set to introduce new product lines for 4G and 5G telematics, supplying TCUs for Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki.

It will locally manufacture HARMAN Ready Connect, an all‑in‑one TCU developed in collaboration with Samsung.

The Ready Connect unit is reported to support over‑the‑air updates, integrated cybersecurity, diagnostics and cloud connectivity. It is engineered to pair with HARMAN Ready Aware to deliver real‑time, contextual vehicle‑to‑network (V2N) alerts.

Ready Connect is already in use by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) throughout Asia and North America.

The Pune plant functions as a global production centre for connected‑car solutions, manufacturing cockpits, telematics units and car audio systems.

It supplies India-based OEMs including Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra, as well as export clients in Europe and North America.

The expanded Pune facility will join the company’s manufacturing network in China, Hungary, Mexico, Brazil and Germany.

The site continues to pursue sustainability goals: on‑site solar installations generate more than 317,000kWh of electricity annually, which offsets nearly 200 metric tonnes of CO₂.

The facility is progressing towards a target of 100% renewable electricity use by 2030, in line with HARMAN’s global Sound Purpose environmental, social and governance framework.

Earlier this year, Harman and Qualcomm Technologies unveiled a strategic collaboration, intended to advance automotive cockpit technology.
