Hyundai Motor affiliate Kia Motors has unveiled a Chinese version of the Seltos crossover – which it calls the ‘all-new KX3’ – at the 17th China Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition.

The B-segment compact is pitched at China’s competitive SUV market and is on sale now.

The Chinese name is a revival. According to GlobalData’s Automotive Intelligence Centre PLDB database [sub required], an electric version of Dongfeng Yueda Kia’s 4,260mm long KX3 went on sale in China in December 2018. This was just ahead of the 1 January deadline for local manufacturers to comply with requirements to expand their offerings of so-called NEVs or New Energy Vehicles. The non-EV version of the KX3 was not a success so it was axed late in late 2018, only months after a facelift.

At the show Kia also is showing its Futuron all-wheel drive concept SUV coupe; the new, China-exclusive K3 midsize electric sedan and the Soul Booster EV concept.

The motor show’s theme is New Technology New Life and it runs from 22 November to 1 December at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou.

The China spec KX3 badged Seltos has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and so called Sound Mood Lighting and is powered by a 115PS 1.5-litre petrol engine with eight-speed automatic transmission.
