General Motors has continued the regional roll-out of its new Chevrolet Trailblazer with the launch of the model in Indonesia this week.
The seven-seater SUV is based on the Colorado pickup truck platform and is produced in Rayong, Thailand by General Motors (Thailand), where it has been on sale since last year. It is imported into Indonesia as a completely built-up unit (CBU).

General Motors ceased vehicle production in Indonesia in 2015, just two years after it re-opened its plant in Bekasi – some 50km east of the capital city Jakarta, after its locally-made Spin model struggled to compete in the country’s highly-competitive compact MPV segment.
Chevrolet hopes the new Trailblazer will help it make inroads into the higher-margin pickup-based SUV market currently dominated by Japanese models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Isuzu MuX.
The new Trailblazer is fitted with the 2.5L Duramax diesel engine and has a number of features such as remote engine start and remote air conditioning control. It is priced at between IDR430m-IDR455m (US$32,200-US$34,100).
