Smitarani Tripathy, social media analyst at GlobalData, said: “Tesla was the most discussed automobile company with a 43% share during the last year. The conversations on Tesla spiked the most in October 2022, when Tesla forecast a jump in global sales for Q4 2022 and through 2023. Social media contributors discussed how Tesla is pushing its production plan in the new Austin and Berlin factories to increase global production of its top-selling Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles.”

Ford contributed 13% share of voice among top 10 companies in EV discussions and emerged as the next most mentioned automobile company. The highest peak in influencers discussions was noticed for Ford, when the company said it planned to cut about 4,000 jobs in the manufacturing units in Europe as part of a drive to speed up its transition from petrol and diesel engines to electric vehicles.

Rivian saw highest growth in EV discussions among the top 10 companies with a more than 100% rise over last year. The company saw its highest spike in social media discussions during September 2022 when it announced its strategic partnership with Mercedes Benz Vans for electric vans production.

Tripathy concluded: “’Lithium’ was among the most discussed trend related to EV during the last year, among social media contributors.
