Volkswagen’s works council, which represents employees of the company, is still calling for legal intervention over Porsche’s plans to raise its stake in Volkswagen and the fact the Porsche holding company, Porsche Holding SE, will take effective control of the company. The works council still feels it will be under-represented on the board, according to Automobilwoche.

Volkswagen chief executive, Martin Winterkorn, is reportedly worried that the dispute will drag on, although he told the newspaper that the parties understand that if they don’t come to an agreement it could damage the company.

Porsche’s head of development Wolfgang Dürheimer has said he wants to increase the number of joint projects with Volkswagen. “I can imagine that we can join forces on research and development,” he told Automobilwoche. He gave the example of a much-needed diesel for the Porsche Cayenne SUV. He said Volkswagen’s diesel expertise would open up new possibilities for the company.

No decision has yet been made on a diesel for the Cayenne, although diesels have definitely been ruled out for Porsche sports cars.
