According to news agency dpa-AFX, Volkswagen’s head of development, Ulrich Hackenberg, told Automobilwoche that in the future all Volkswagen models will be designed from the start for hybrid technology.


Hackenberg added that both mild and full hybrid versions of the new small car that was shown in concept form as the Up at the recent Frankfurt Show, are being considered.


The Volkswagen model range will also include more low fuel consumption models badged BlueMotion. Hackenberg said there is a good chance of a BlueMotion version of the Eos coupe-cabriolet, as well as the previously talked about Tiguan small SUV.


Some of the technologies currently under the BlueMotion umbrella may also find themselves in use in high volume production versions to help reduce fleet fuel consumption.
