The Volkswagen brand recorded a July sales increase of 11.9% over the same month a year ago to 468,300 units and has now delivered over one million vehicles in Europe this year.
This contrasts with a 5% fall in total industry sales in the region – excluding Germany.

Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group, said: “The Volkswagen brand has grown global deliveries further despite the continued difficult market situation, above all in Western Europe.”
VW reported that the trend in Central and Eastern Europe was noticeably positive, with brand sales rising 40.4% to 157,100. Deliveries in Russia continued to develop at a high level and ran at 95,600, up almost 70%. In its home market of Germany, VW passenger car sales this year have totalled 361,400, up 2.5%.
In the Asia-Pacific region, the brand grew deliveries 15% in the period to July, handing over 1.27m units and 1.14m vehicles were delivered in China, also up 15%.
North American sales grew 23.4% to 346,700 and in the South America region, deliveries rose by 6.4% to 472,700 units.
