According to the Spiegel magazine, group CEO Martin Winterkorn will present a new ten year strategy at the suprervisory board meeting on 16th November. The strategy will target ten million vehicle sales with additional volume coming from new models such as pick-ups, vans and SUVs. In particular growth is expected to come from the US, China and Russia.
Despite rising investment costs to fund the new model offensive, Volkswagen is also planning to increase profits. Winterkorn said a few months ago that he wants to exceed Toyota in terms of volume and returns.
The strategy also calls for Volkswagen to hold on to the Seat brand, although it will be a priority to drastically reduce costs and to share models with other brands in the group, subject to some light redesign.
