Volkswagen Group sales to the end of November this year have risen 14% to 7.1m vehicles, outperforming a global market which rose 5.3%.

Deliveries in November totalled 711,400, up 15.3% over the same month a year ago.
Board member for sales, Christian Klingler said: “We are making very good progress. Our target to top an annual 8m units for the first time is within reach. That is an important milestone for the Group.

“Despite the anticipated high delivery levels for this year we are already preparing for a very challenging year in 2012. Risks on European markets in particular are increasing.”

In Europe, the Group brands sold 3.38m vehicles, up 11% in the period to November. Unit sales in North America from January to November increased by 21.4% to 600,700 and in South America rose 6.6% to 855,500.

In Asia Pacific, 2.39m vehicles were sold, an increase of 18.3%, with 2.11m units in China, up 15.5%. Sales in India grew 125% to 100,600.

Volkswagen brand car sales totalled 4.69m, up 12.4%, performing particularly well in the Central and Eastern Europe region. Audi sold 1.19m vehicles worldwide in the period to November, up almost 19%.

Skoda sales rose 16.3% to 816,800 while Spanish unit Seat achieved small growth of 2.3% to 320,000 vehicles worldwide.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles grew deliveries by 22.5% to 478,900 units.
