Full year sales figures for 2007 released today show that the group sold 6.189m vehicles worldwide, increasing deliveries year-on-year by 7.9%.


The highest growth markets were Brazil and China. 581,300 vehicles were sold in Brazil (up 32%), while deliveries in China and Hong Kong rose 28% to 910,500 passenger cars. Very high growth was also recorded in Central and Eastern Europe, with 496,400 vehicles delivered representing a rise of 21%.


In Germany, sales were down 4.8% due to the weak market last year, but the group managed to increase its share slightly from 32.6 to 32.7%.


All eight brands increased deliveries worldwide compared with the previous year. Sales of Volkswagen passenger cars rose 7.8% to 3.66m vehicles. Audi deliveries totaled 964,200 vehicles, up 6.5%, while Skoda reported a new record of 630,000 deliveries, a rise of 14.6% and Seat delivered 431,000 vehicles to customers worldwide (+0.4%).


10.014 Bentleys were delivered, breaking through the 10,000 unit barrier for the first time. Lamborghini sales were 2,4000 and Bugatti delivered 81 vehicles.


Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles saw sales rise 10.7% to 488,700 units.
