Volkswagen has reportedly been given a deadline of 7 October by the federal motor vehicle office of Germany (KBA) to come up with “binding measures and a timetable” for ensuring that all its diesel cars meet emissions standards.

If the company does not meet the deadline, the KBA can issue an order to stop the sale of affected models, ET Auto.com reported citing Bild am Sonntag.

According to AFP, a Volkswagen spokesman said the company would soon “announce when we expect to launch a recall” that would include a software update. “We are working at full throttle” on the plan, he added.
