Volkswagen will soon decide whether to go ahead with building a new factory in India, a person familiar with the situation told Dow Jones Newswires on Friday.

“The plan will be presented to management shortly. A decision is to be expected in the first half of the year,” the person reportedly said, adding that the total investment would run to several hundred million euros.
A company spokesman declined to comment to the news agency on the information. However, he said while a decision hasn’t yet been made, the company is “still very interested in involvement in India.”
The Volkswagen group already has a Skoda assembly unit in the country.
