Ford of Europe has added a new 175ps TDCi turbodiesel engine to its popular seven-seat S-Max and Galaxy MPVs (minivans), boosted the power output of diesel automatic versions and added Bluetooth as standard equipment.

The two model ranges, priced from GBP17,800 here in the UK, share the same platform and major components, including dashboard.

The new 175ps 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine – devloped and built by a JV with France’s PSA group – is the largest displacement and most powerful diesel installation currently available in Ford of Europe’s passenger cars. It provides peak torque of 400Nm at just 1,750rpm which, Ford said, allows “effortless overtaking ability combined with exceptional economy”.

The recently-released two-litre turbodiesel automatic versions have been given a 10ps power boost, from 130 to 140ps. Ford also now offers a two-litre flex-fuel engine capable of running on any mix of bioethanol and petrol.

Wireless Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity is now standard range-wide, there have been equipment upgrades for individual model variants and new paint colours are available.
