According to Automobilwoche, many suppliers are benefiting from a big technology push as a result of the recent focus on reducing CO2 emissions. In addition they are benefiting from growth in emerging markets.

Bosch is one example. It is celebrating the first series petrol of gasoline and diesel hybrid systems, and it is seeing growth from orders for components for new low-cost cars in emerging markets. Bosch CEO Franz Fehrenbach told the industry paper that he expects turnover to exceed EUR 1bn by 2010.

Continental’s chairman Karl-Thomas Neumann said “we will focus intensively on the so-called low cost car segment in markets such as China, India and Brazil.” He expects that 20% of products in emerging markets could be low-cost cars.

Delphi sees good opportunities in Europe, particularly in the areas of environmental, safety and entertainment technologies. Delphi chairman, Rodney O’Neal, told the newspaper that even low-cost cars will need safety and comfort equipment.
