DaimlerChrysler’s chief financial officer Bodo Uebber has said that the group’s Smart brand will break even in 2007, according to Reuters.
The news agency noted that Smart has not made a profit since it debuted in 1998, although its loss ‘narrowed’ in 2005, from around €600m in 2004.
The improved financial position is expected to come from reducing costs.
Uebber added that the company is in no rush to sell cars in the US.
