According to Reuters the replacement for the Smart ForTwo should go on sale in April 2007.
A DaimlerChrysler spokesperson denied a report due to appear in a German news magazine that the launch would be brought forward to minimise the time the flagging old model was on sale.
DaimlerChrysler is also trying to get approval to sell the new model in the United States.
