Automotive air-conditioning compressor maker Sanden Corporation has officially opened a new manufacturing plant in Poland.
The EUR60m 200,000 m² facility at Polkowice is Sanden’s second manufacturing plant in Europe. Output will primarily be for the European market, and the location in south-western Poland was chosen to ensure easy shipment to European customers.
Sanden has recently reorganised its operations in Europe as part of the so-called “New Sanden” strategy. It has operated in Europe for over 30 years.
The company has set up a European HQ in Germany, near Frankfurt, extended its manufacturing operations in France, built the new factory in Poland and enhanced the company’s R&D capabilities at its German technical centre.
The Polish plant will make around a million compressors in 2006.
