Site work will begin this month. Porsche will build a workshop and office complex in which all driveline development activities and associated prototype assembly will be concentrated.

Development work on the new Panamera sport coupe, due to be launched in 2009, will also be integrated there.

The first stage of the building is due to be completed by the end of 2006 and occupied at the start of 2007.

Total investment is around EUR15m. When the building is finished, around 500 people will work there.

What Porsche describes as “a metallic façade with a technical look” will ensure that nothing in the four-storey top-secret development HQ can be seen from outside.

It will be partially built into a slope, so a large amount of digging work is necessary. Consequently, Porsche has warned local residents to expect increased site traffic over the next few months.
