The Porsche 911 may be produced in plants in Asia or North America, according to new CEO Matthias Mueller.
Speaking to Focus magazine, Matthias Mueller said: “This year, we are going to discuss whether to start assembly in Asia or North America. The main thing is that the car has ‘Engineered by Porsche’ on it. Where it is produced is no longer so important.”

Porsche cars are currently manufactured in Leipzig in eastern Germany and Stuttgart, in the west. Speaking last week at the Detroit show, Mueller said Porsche’s global sales rose by around 25% year on year to 95,000 cars in 2010, of which 25,320 cars were delivered in the US, up 29%.
He voiced optimism for this year as order intake surged by around 50% to 110,000 cars.
