General Motors’ Opel has added a new 1.6 CDTI engine with power outputs of 100kW/136hp, 81kW/110hp and 70kW/95hp to its Meriva MPV range.
The 70kW/95hp version is a new entry level option and comes with start/stop and is a low-friction six-speed manual transmission. It replaces the previous generation 1.3 litre diesel with the same output and increases maximum torque by 100nm to 280Nm.

The 1.6 CDTI complies with the future Euro 6 emission standards. The necessary reduction in nitrogen oxide is achieved through Lean NOx Technology (LNT). The system’s special LNT catalyst stores the nitrogen oxide. When the storage capacity is used up, the engine management system automatically begins regeneration. It is maintenance-free.
