“The market share of the Opel brand in Germany will improve to 11% from 10.3% this year,” a spokesman told Reuters.

He reportedly added that the company expected a rise in the overall car market for west, central and eastern Europe – including Russia – by around 500,000 units to 20 million vehicles in 2004.

The spokesman told Reuters his comments were based on statements made by the company’s sales and service management board member Uhland Burkart at the Leipzig car show in eastern Germany on Friday.
